Economic Status: This species is not regarded as more than a minor pest in its native Australia but has been introduced to a number of other parts of the world where it is reported to be a pest of banana, citrus, coffee, guava, macadamia and many ornamentals.
Notes: The Green planthopper is one of the best known Australian planthoppers although other species of the genus Siphanta can be confused with it, particularly Siphanta hebes (Walker) which is a minor pest of citrus in Australia.
