Bactrocera cucumis (French)

Common Name: cucumber fruit fly

Diagnosis:Anterior supra-alar bristles present. Prescutellar bristles absent. Pecten in male absent. Anterior notopleural bristle absent. Posterior surstylus lobe long. Medial post sutural vittae present. Wing markings costal band & anal streak only. Costal streak limited to costa - touching R4+5 at margin only. Costal cells cloudy.

Attractant: nil

Larval Hosts: Curcubits including choko, cucumbers, pumkin, rockmelon, squash and zucchini; papaya and tomatoes.

Economic status: economic status 4 out of 5
