Bactrocera neohumeralis (Hardy)\

 

Common Name: lesser Queensland fruit fly 

Diagnosis: Anterior supra-alar bristles present. Anterior notopleural bristle absent. Number of scutellar bristles 2. Posterior surstylus lobe short. Medial post sutural vittae absent. Lateral post sutural vittae present. Wing markings costal band & anal streak only. Costal streak limited to costa - touching R4+5 at margin only. Scutum markings without posterior dark triangle. Scutellum entirely yellow/pale.  

Attractant:  cue lure  

Larval Hosts: Many vegetables including tomatoes, capsicums, chillies etc; fruit including pome, citrus and many tropical fruit etc.  

Economic status: economic status 4 out of 5
