Siphanta roseicincta (Walker)
Caution
Many of the insects depicted on these pages are outwardly similar and you should not use photographs as the sole means of identification. These pages form part of a scientific key which will assist a trained entomologist to identify the species accurately.
(Flatidae: Flatinae: Siphantini)
This species can only be differentiated from Siphanta lynae by examination of the male genitalia. The colour variation displayed by this species means that it may also be confused with Siphanta angustata, Siphanta granulata and Siphanta lucindae.
This species is widespread across southern Australia from SE Qld to WA and displays some minor variation in the male genitalia as well as in coloration (especially the extent of the red colouring on the tegmen margin) from East to West. Specimens from Cape Leeuwin, WA, have the costal margin of the tegmen greenish.
