(Flatidae: Flatinae: Siphantini)

This species can only be differentiated from Siphanta rubra Schmidt by examination of the male genitalia
and apparent distributional differences. This species is also close to S. lynae Fletcher. It can be differentiated from S. lynae by the striping on the thorax and from S. rubra by apparent distributional differences, with S. rubra not having been found North of Mackay in Qld while S. subgranulosa is only known from Cairns, Ravenshoe and Herberton in N.Qld. It can be differentiated from both by examination of the male genitalia.
