Genus Kirkaldybrachys Constant
Kirkaldybrachys euronotoides Constant
Genus Kirkaldybrachys Constant 2006: 48
Type species: Kirkaldybrachys euronotoides Constant, 2006, (by
original designation)
Known species: Two species are known, K. euronotoides and K. similis both described by Constant (2006).
Comments: Both species are restricted to the northern extremities of the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Along with species in related genera, they may be associated with broad-phyllodinous wattles (Acacia spp, family Mimosaceae) although there are few host records for Kirkaldybrachys species. Constant (2006) differentiates the genus from all other Australian eurybrachids by the combination of the following features: tegmina and hindwings not convex; frons less than two times broader than long; hind wings brown, without white marking; first fork of forewing vein M close to base; first fork of forewing vein Cu at about half length of forewing. Like species in the genus Olonia, the first hind tarsomere has a bristly pad ventrally.
