Type species: Desudaba psittacus Walker 1858, by monotypy

Synonym: Metanira Stål 1863: 236, synonymised by Stål 1866a: 137. Type species: Metanira thisbe Stål 1863.

Known species: Seven species from Australia and two from PNG

Notes: This is the largest genus of fulgorids in Australia. The species are mainly dark brown to black with spots on the forewings. In addition to variable spotting over the basal half of the forewing, there are always two black spots on the apical half in the region of the M veins. The hind wing is mainly hyaline but the basal section is bright red bordered with black (see D. danae for an example).
