Genus Sarima Melichar

Sarima novaehollandiae Jacobi

Genus Sarima Melichar 1903: 224.
Type species: Sarima illibata Melichar 1903 (Sri Lanka), designated by Distant 1906c: 342.

Known species: At least 30 species have been described in this genus, distributed from Fiji to India and from Japan to Australia. Only one species is known in Australia.

Notes: The only Australian representative of this genus may not be a true Sarima. The extensive oriental fauna needs revision and the definition of the genus needs to be clarified. The "loop-vein" near the base of the tegmen may not be diagnostic for the genus but is certainly unique amongst the Australian Issidae.
