Genus Pochazia Amyot & Serville 1843: 528
Type species: Flata fasciata Fabricius 1803, designated by Kirkaldy 1903b

Known species: Numerous species in the far eastern Palaearctic (China, Japan) and Oriental regions. A number of species are also known from Africa, Madagascar and the Middle East although whether these are all congeneric remains to be confirmed. There is a single Australian record of P. inclyta (Walker).

Notes: The species of Pochazia are mainly magnificent insects about 50% larger than other Australian ricaniids. The size and very broad triangular tegmina make them easily identifiable.
The single Australian record of P. inclyta was made by Schmidt (1905a) and reported by Melichar (1923).  The genus is included in the key because of the presence of numerous species in Indonesia and New Guinea and the possibility that occasional specimens may be found in northern Australia.
