Genus Paralasonia Muir
Genus Paralasonia Muir 1924: 35
Type species: Paralasonia australis Muir 1924, by
monotypy
Known species: Only the type, from Qld and NSW, is described but there is at least one undescribed species, from NSW and Victoria, in collections.
Comments: Fletcher (2008) transferred Busas Jacobi from the Ricaniidae to the Gaetuliini and suggested that Paralasonia may be synonymous with it. Stroinski & Gnezdilov (2009) stated that Busas and Paralasonia were both valid genera and provided features by which the two genera could be differentiated. However, features of the head and pronotum given in that paper are not consistent among the various undescribed species known in the two genera. Pending a comprehensive revision of the Australian gaetuliine fauna, the two genera are retained, recognised by the shape of the tegmen which is elongate in Paralasonia and short and rounded in Busas.
