Genus Orphninus Emeljanov

Orphninus mouldsi Emeljanov

Genus Orphninus Emeljanov 2000: 263

Type species: Orphninus mouldsi Emeljanov (2000)

Known species: only the type species is known

Distribution. ACT, NSW, QLD.

Remarks. The ear-shaped lobes of the postocular carinae are less prominent than those found in species of Rhigedanus and Dysoliarus. The apical teeth on the 2nd tarsomere were 11-12 in all specimens examined by Löcker et al. (2006) except for one which had 15. This specimen also had 13 platellae on the same tarsomere, as opposed to the range of 9-10 in other specimens. This degree of variability is not unusual in the group of genera included by Emeljanov (2000) in the subtribe Rhigedanina.
