Insect keys » Membracoidea

Genus Cicadulina China

There are two species of Cicadulina recorded from Australia that are very similar in external appearance. They can be reliably differentiated only by examination of the male genitalia, although their distributions in Australia are distinct (Kitching et al. 1973). With the possible threat of an incursion by the African Maize Leafhopper, Cicadulina mbila (Naudé), this distributional difference may be unuseable. A key to the Australian species with the inclusion of C. mbila is available here.

Queensland or NSW

Select - Cicadulina bimaculata (Evans)

Northern Territory or Western Australia

Select - Cicadulina bipunctata (Melichar)
