Subfamily Deltocephalinae:
Tribe
Eupelicini: Subtribe Paradorydiina
Paradorydium ovidii Kirkaldy
The Australian and New Zealand eupelicines are all members of the Subtribe Paradorydiina. These are elongate, seed-like leafhoppers somewhat similar to the Cephalelini but differ by having the hind tibiae much longer than the fore and mid tibiae and lined with macrosetae and by lacking antennal ridges, which are well developed in the Cephalelini. In addition, different species of Paradorydiini have been collected from Malvaceae (cotton), Casuarinaceae (Casuarina) and Myrtaceae (Melaleuca) while the only host records known for the Cephalelini are all Restionaceae (sedges).
