Genus Petalocephala Stål
Petalocephala bohemani Stål
Genus Petalocephala Stål 1854: 251. Type species: Petalocephala bohemani Stål, designated by Atkinson 1885.
Australian species:
Petalocephala bohemani Stål 1854: 251
Comments: P. bohemani was originally described from Java in Indonesia and its occurrence in Australia was not discovered until Evans (1966, 1977) found that two of Kirkaldy's species of Rhotidus were actually synonyms of this species. Superficially, the species resembles many species of Rubria because of its colour (greenish in life, yellow brown in collections), its generally smooth features (in contrast to most other Australian Ledrini) and the flat pronotum. However, the venation on the tegmen is clearly reticulate which immediately differentiates it from species of Rubria. A discussion on the status of the tribe Petalocephalini can be found here.
