Press for checklist of Australian EurymeliniEurymelops bicolor (Burmeister)

Genus Eurymelops Kirkaldy 1906: 350. Type species: Eurymela rubrovittata Amyot & Serville, by subsequent designation (Evans 1933: 80)

Known species: Four species, from all states of Australia except Tasmania and NT with E. bicolor also recorded in the Solomon Islands.

Comments: The species of Eurymelops are the largest eurymelids reaching up to 14mm in length. They are mainly boldly coloured although considerable variation occurs in some of the species (see E. bicolor for examples). The protruding lower lip of the frontoclypeus is unique in the Eurymelini although, in the Ipoini, Anacornutipo lignosa has a similar lip and species of Cornutipo have the lip extended to form a prominent process.
