Genus Nanipoides Evans

Press for checklist of Australian Ipoini Nanipoides maculosa (Evans)

Genus Nanipoides Evans 1966: 47. Type species: Ipoides maculosa Evans, by original designation

Known species: Only the type species is known. It is distributed across southeastern Australia from Qld, NSW, Vic and SA.

Comments: This is a relatively large species with males being about 7.5mm in length and females reaching up to 8mm. It is widespread but not common in collections. Because of its size, N. maculosa might be mistaken for one of the Thymbrini but it has only two rather than three spines at the apex of the hind tibia and has the ocelli on the face rather than on the anterior margin of the head.
