Genus Cebes Distant

Cebes transiens (Walker)Cebes transiens (Walker)

Cebes Distant 1916a: 38; Day 1999: 658. Type species: Centrotus transiens Walker 1851, by original designation

Known species: Three species are described from Australia: C. transiens (Walker) and C. tenuis (Goding) from SE Australia and C. godingi Distant from NSW. In addition, one species is recorded from PNG.

Distribution: NSW, Vic, SA, PNG

Comments: Species of Cebes are elegant light brown species with the median pronotal processes reaching almost to, or beyond, the apex of the tegmen. Some revisionary work on the identities of the species is needed, particularly C. tenuis which was omitted from Day (1999) and C. areolatus in PNG which may not be congeneric.
