Genus Eufrenchia Goding

Eufrenchia sp. Eufrenchia sp

Eufrenchia Goding 1903: 24; Day 1999: 671. Type species: Centrotus falcatus Walker 1851, by original designation

Known species: Only the type species is described although Day (1999: 673) lists an undescribed species from NSW and ACT.

Distribution: All states of Australia, PNG, Philippines and Vanuatu

Comments: Several names have been applied to E. falcatus, including E. leae Goding (synonymised by Day 1999) and E. bucktoni (syn. by Evans 1966). E. bucktoni was created as a nom. nov. by Funkhouser (1951) for Ibiceps falcatus Buckton which he believed was a junior homonym of E. falcata (Walker). Species of Eufrenchia are distinguished from other Australian membracids by the sweeping curve of the lateral pronotal processes as seen in frontal view.
