Genus Evansiana McKamey

Evansiana iasis (Kirkaldy)Evansiana iasis (Kirkaldy)

Kurandella Evans 1966: 298. Type species: Acanthucus [sic.] iasis Kirkaldy, by original designation. Preoccupied by Kurandella Fennah, 1950.
Evansiana McKamey 1994: 318, nom. nov. for Kurandella Evans; Day 1999: 675.

Known species: Only the type species is described but Day (1999) listed two undescribed species from Qld..

Distribution: Qld, NSW

Comments: Day (1999) casts doubt on the NSW record (Sydney, by Evans 1966). In addition to the distinctly hairy nature of the species, E. iasis is also unusual in have veins M and Cu in the forewing fused for about 1/3 of their length. The forewings are apically acute with the median pronotal process extending almost to the apex of the forewings.
