Genus Matumuia Day

Matamuia laura DayMatamuia laura Day

Genus Matumuia Day 1999: 683. Type species: Matumuia laura Day 1999, by original designation

Known species: Only the type species is known.

Distribution: N. Qld

Comments: This monotypic genus is based on a single male from N. Qld. It is quite distinctive with the median pronotal process curving upwards and extending well beyond the apex of the tegmina, which are themselves very long. Day (1999) also notes that the species is also unusual in Australian Membracidae by having the ocelli aligned with the midpoint of the eyes.
