Genus Tolasella Evans
Genus Tolasella
Evans 1972a: 145
Type species: Tolasella festa Evans
(PNG), by original designation
Known species: Six species are known in the genus, two from PNG and four from Queensland.
Comments: Evans (1972a) differentiates this genus from Tomaloides on the structure of the tegmen which is somewhat heteropteroid with the apical membrane clearly of different texture to the rest of the tegmen. The membrane meets both the costal and the sutural margins at a broad angle whereas in Tomaloides the line of the margin of the tegmen is continuous from membrane to costal margin. This feature appears to be more pronounced in the type species, T. festa from New Guinea as figured by Evans (1972a: fig. 3B).
The Australian species were all transferred to Tolasella from Neodartus by Evans (1972a) who differentiated the two genera on the basis of the head, Neodartus having marginal ocelli and a flattened crown rather than dorsal ocelli and a convex, declivous crown.
