Known species: Two species are listed by Day (1999) who indicates that a number of undescribed species exist and that Protinotus doddi might also belong in this genus
Distribution: Widespread in Australia, including Lord Howe Island.
Comments: These are the common small (3.5-5mm),
brown membracids found across Australia. P. minutus is the smallest
Australian species of the family. Day (1999)
notes that the genus is not well defined and may be polyphyletic.
