Genus Protinotus Day

Protinotus doddi (Distant)

Protinotus Day 1999: 702. Type species: Otinotus doddi Distant 1916, by original designation

Known species: P. doddi and P. albosignatus both described in Otinotus Buckton by Distant (1916a).

Distribution: Qld

Comments: The identity of this genus is obscure. Day (1999) notes that the two species which he included in Protinotus may, in fact, be conspecific but the holotype female of P. albosignatus is too damaged to be certain. In addition, Day (loc. cit.) notes that P. doddi might be assigned to Pogonella.
