Genus Terentius Stål

Terentius convexus Stål Terentius convexus Stål

Terentius Stål 1869: 286; Day 1999: 721. Type species: Terentius convexus Stål 1869, designated by Goding 1903: 7.

Known species: Two described species, T. convexus and T. rolandi Distant, plus at least three undescribed species are listed by Day (1999)

Distribution: Qld, NT, NSW, SA, PNG, eastern Indonesia, Philippines (Day 1999)

Comments: This is one of two Australian genera in which the lateral pronotal processes are completely missing. The lateral prominences at the base of the forewing are the humeral angles. The other genus is Dingkana Goding which can be differentiated from species of Terentius by having the bases of M and Cu fused. The pronotum is broad and convex and gives the species a globose, hunch-backed appearance.
